Becky Wade is a professional long-distance runner who competes for Asics. A native of Dallas, Texas, and a graduate of Rice University, she is a U.S. Junior National Champion, a four-time All-American, and the winner of her debut marathon, the 2013 California International Marathon. In Run the World (William Morrow/HarperCollins, 2016), Becky chronicles the year she spent traveling the world as a Watson Fellow in pursuit of some of the world’s most unique, storied, and diverse running cultures. Along the way, she traversed 22 countries, stayed with 72 host families, and logged 3,500 miles run, while exploring the different ways that runners of all levels approach the sport.
Becky is on of four Wade twins, and she currently trains in Houston, Texas, under coaches Jim Bevan and Joe Vigil. In addition to running up to 120 miles per week, Becky volunteers as a track and cross-country coach at Rice, goes on sporadic training stints in places such as Mammoth Lakes, California, and spends her free time cooking, crafting, watching documentaries, obsessing over holidays, and playing the piano.
